QUESTION:

MEN: If you have a desire to marry "the best woman in town" are you the best man in town?

WOMEN: If you have a desire to marry "the best man in town" are you the best woman in town?

This is a question that was posed by a well known local pastor to challenge the women in his church to not waste their time focusing on "finding" the best man in town and avoid becoming "the best woman in town."

ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE

It is vitally or SUPER IMPORTANT that you do not get offended by these questions or statements. No matter how you define or describe "the best man or woman in town" you wan the person that is "best for you" and you should desire to the your absolute best for them based on the biblical description of good men and women; let's look at a few of these scriptures.

PSALM 24:3-5

Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

SINGLES MINISTRY

Churches who decided they were too small or chose not to develop a single adult ministry, should at the very least work at understanding the issues singles face, and endeavor to portray open and informed ATTITUDES AND ACTIONS towards their needs. Helping a single-parent mom with occasional home or car repairs, free childcare, financial help to attend a church event etc. is not only good; it shows Christ's love in practical ways. Single and single-again people are here to stay. America has become a nation of many "family types." If the church is going to be effective in reaching, nurturing, training, and making disciples of single adults our efforts, time, prayer, and other resources are needed and deserved. The singles population is TOO LARGE TO IGNORE and the abilities and talents of these individuals are TOO VALUABLE TO WASTE. Their salvation is at stake! A church of any size CAN and SHOULD minister to single adults, whether through an established group or individually. Of course, most churches establish a group to reach at least ONE AGE SEGMENT of singles. Through prayerful consideration, church and demographic surveys, more single adults could become a ministry force in

FRIENDSHIP IN THE TIME OF TROUBLE

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
